Our core values and our vision
The mission statement is the foundation of our work. The basic values described here are central to the company culture and working atmosphere; they influence the quality and effectiveness of our daily work. In order to ensure the sustainability of these values, we consciously cultivate them and continually check whether we are living up to them.
We work for people whose health is or threatens to be impaired by substance use disorders and/or behavioural addictions. It is our goal to offer those affected the necessary support to enable them to live as self-determined a life as possible. To this end, we promote their health on the psychological, physical and social levels and involve their environment.
We are pioneers and opinion leaders in addiction medicine.
As a pioneering organisation, Arud has had a lasting influence on addiction medicine in the past and has made an important contribution to its further development - this is what we strive for today and in the future.
We build on this
We respect the personal fates and life plans of our patients and accept that the use of psychoactive substances or addictive behaviour not related to substances can also be part of this. We treat our patients with respect.
We support those affected in keeping their consumption low-risk and in leading as self-determined a life as possible. Treatment steps are always worked out together; our treatment approach is not primarily abstinence-oriented, but is committed to ensuring the best possible quality of life.
We also take care to avoid or minimise damage to society and the environment caused by addictive behaviour or substance disorders and their consequences.
Social commitment and political attitude
We are committed to a pragmatic, scientifically based and solidary health policy in the field of addiction in the public and political arena. As specialists, we are committed to improving the general conditions for users of psychoactive substances and to ensuring that appropriate treatment is available for all those whose addictive behaviour or substance use is harmful to their health.
We fight against the stigmatisation and criminalisation of people who use psychoactive substances. In its work, Arud does not distinguish between legal and illegal substances, but takes into account the individual and social damage potential of a substance.
Constant willingness to change
Innovation presupposes the readiness for change in each and every individual. We participate in this change process with our ideas and skills and consider successes and also mistakes as valuable in order to advance in this process.
This characterizes our daily work
We offer our patients comprehensive treatment in the fields of psychiatry and psychotherapy, general internal medicine and social work. We help to reduce addiction- or substance-related damage, promote the independence and self-determination of those affected in everyday life and work towards improving comprehensive health and thus quality of life.
Our approaches are based on the latest scientific findings and broad practical experience in the field of addiction medicine. Through our own research work we contribute to new findings and make our knowledge available nationally and internationally. In order to optimally complement our range of services, we seek cooperation with other institutions.
The Arud as employer
Arud promotes cooperation among employees, supports their individual development and enables continuous further education and training. Employees are also supported by the management in private crisis situations as far as possible. We advocate measures that improve the health and safety of our employees.
Arud enables flexible, family-friendly working hours and schedules and offers employees an attractive workplace.
Understanding of leadership
The management style of Arud is responsible, transparent and comprehensible. Leaders are aware of their influence on the company culture and thus on the satisfaction of the team. They are committed to these values and exemplify them.
Managers set clear, realistic goals together with their employees. They reflect on the cooperation together and supervisors and employees provide each other with feedback to ensure that the agreed goals are achieved.
Information about decisions is provided at an early stage and, where possible and appropriate, employees are involved in important decision-making processes.
Employees are encouraged in their function by their managers and receive support in regular individual discussions. At the same time, there is always the opportunity to seek advice from the managers.
Cooperation and respect
Our cooperation is based on mutual appreciation. We respect each other as responsibly acting personalities who support the common goals with their professional skills and personal commitment.
We treat each other with respect - regardless of gender, age, religion, ethnic and social background, physical or mental capabilities, sexual orientation, function and level of employment. We see diversity in the team as a strength and benefit from it.
We are also open and tolerant towards critical opinions and cultivate a climate that enables open and transparent communication. We approach conflicts in a solution-oriented manner. We address our corporate culture and actively cultivate it, especially with regard to how we deal with each other.
Business management principles and market orientation
We are a non-profit organization. We are not driven by the pursuit of profit, and any surplus funds flow exclusively into the continued existence and development of our institution.
To ensure the financing of the organisation, we follow business principles. We work efficiently and cover our costs. This means that we are committed to ensuring that our services are adequately remunerated, that our expenditure is in line with our income, and that we look for new sources of income where necessary.
We are guided by what our patients or potential patients need in terms of what is on offer, keep a close eye on what other market players have to offer, and constantly develop our existing range of services to ensure that our care is tailored to their needs and efficient
We handle the available ecological and economic resources responsibly and efficiently. We use our energy and time wisely.
