Review of advanced training on sexual medicine

The advanced training on sexuality in medical and psychological work took place from June 1 to 3 at the premises of Arud - Center for Addiction Medicine in Zurich. Falk von Staufenberg

Great speakers and practical consolidation

The training was the result of a cooperation with Checkpoint Zurich (Dominique Emch) and the Charité Berlin, about which we are very happy and grateful. Hannes Ulrich and Inger Knaevelsrud (Charité Berlin) gave in this first training a solid insight into sexual therapy topics, space for discussion and exchange as well as the opportunity to try out what was learned in workshops. Prof. Klaus M. Beier (Director of the Institute for Sexual Science and Sexual Medicine) began by giving an insight into the history of sexual science, which also included Auguste Forel and the foundation of the World League for Sexual Reform associated with him.

Presentations were given on the topics: Psychosexual Development, Sexual Anamnesis, Sexual Preference, and Sexual Dysfunction. A practical reference was made to the presented interventions in sex therapy within the different topics.

And the central question?

To the above question can be said after this training: Yes, orgasms can contribute to a person's pleasure. However, this is not absolutely necessary for the relationship component of sexuality. Sometimes the pressure to experience an orgasm also creates a tension or stress situation, which has a rather negative effect on a fulfilling sexuality.
